Kiruna was founded about 100 years ago for the purpose of mining iron ore.  The LPDA mine is a major source of employment in Kiruna.  It is the largest underground mine in the world with approximately 400 kilometers of underground roads.  Kathy Wolfe in cooperation with the mine company provided several tours for those of us on the project.
